3M Di Noc Carbon Fibre – Know your Product!

14 December 2010 One Comment

I thought it would be advantageous to do a quick write up with some source material on the 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fibre Vinyl, so here goes.
It seems there is some controversy around all the different products that are available on the market these days, and I figured before you go and buy just anything, being told that it is the real deal, I would ‘Enlighten’ you a little about THE REAL DEAL Carbon Fibre.
First and Foremost, the 3M DI-NOC Range has a BIG 3M Logo Printed on the backing paper, this Logo alone should tell you if the product is Genuine 3M Carbon Fibre or not. If you are still not satisfied, on the glue side on the Vinyl you will find an Infinity Symbol (∞) Printed in yellow every 300mm.

Due to human nature, there will always be someone trying to make a ‘Quick Buck’ at the uninformed buyers expense.
Being in the industry and dealing with these buyers that have bought the Generic Carbon Fibre under false pretences, GFX Design in JHB  have decided to let the cat out of the bag so to speak.

Yes 3M DI-NOC costs an arm and a leg, and we as re-sellers do not make money on the material itself. What we charge for is the expertise and training that our staff has to applicate the material onto your vehicle or whichever surface you desire, offering the peace of mind that the product you are getting and the training used to do the job are top quality.
At the end of the day the professional signage and vinyl companies are being hurt by the Sharks out there selling the wrong material and trying to pass it off as the genuine product. We do not have any problems with the generic products, but selling it for what it is not will present unwanted returns on the product and unsatisfactory customers.
This results in someone who may want to Vinyl their car being told, “Don’t do it, this guys I know had it done at this place and it peeled off a week later.” Yes it will peel if you have bought the cheap generic material and had it applied by an untrained ‘applicator’.
With the current financial struggle in the country, cheap, falsely advertised products end up costing buyers more in the long run, as the product will fail in a few months and the buyer will have to have it removed at a cost, or replaced with the genuine product. It’s just not worth it, so be informed as to what you are buying and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

OK below are source files taken directly from the 3M websites and from the Product Brochures we as suppliers receive. Happy reading.

3M is at the forefront of branding and advertising solutions, we have a wide range of graphic solutions for all types of applications including vehicle branding and wrapping, fleet advertising, architecture solutions, rail industry solutions and street and pavement graphics.

3M’s new thin, light and seamless Di-Noc™ Film is used by many designers as a creative and decorative interior material. Three special characteristics – colourful patterns, design quality and texture of the material – combine to create special architectural features.

3M DI-NOC Carbon Fibre Finish is a vinyl film that looks like the real thing but is less expensive and more versatile.

It is simple to install and easy-to-clean with a modern, visually appealing design making the carbon fibre finish perfect for unique wrapping of interior or exterior car surfaces such as bonnets, boots, roofs, side view mirrors and interior plastic.

It’s not a printed carbon pattern. The film has an embossed finish resembling true carbon fibre, which reflects light as expected and changes the highlights of the pattern depending on the viewing angle.
