Busy weekend a head – Weekend events

This weekend’s event update seems to quite a busy one. We have sound competitions track days and drifting events, it looks like this weekend is going to be a busy one.
If you are in there area’s drop by and support your local guys.
We have some super cool events going down here in Cape Town, lets kick it off with some good old street to strip battles.

Street2Strip – The battle continues

This coming Friday at Killarney will be host another Street2Strip drag racing event from 7pm till 11.00pm. The event includes ¼ Mile Drags(on the main straight), Drifting practice on the oval (7 till 9pm) and a night Gymkhana practice at the oval (9.15 till 11pm+-), all for Streetcars.
Entry fee to get in is only R30 per person and is only another R20 to participate provided you complete the necessary paperwork and your vehicle passes the safety check in turn 5 – scrutineering bay.
Gates open at 5pm, entries from 6pm till 9pm at the main gate.
So if you or anyone you know has ever wanted to put their streetcar onto the Killarney main straight this is the perfect opportunity.
What to know to participate:
• Entries (main gate caravan 5pm till 9pm) – show SA Drivers license and complete required paperwork / indemnity. R20 to participate / R30 admission
• Vehicle check (go around Turn 5 and turn right into back of scrutineering building) – all wheel bolts required, battery must be fastened down properly and everything must be in general good working order. Required safety gear include long pants & top, closed shoes and SABS approved type crash helmet.
NOTE: Always drive slowly on the access roads and circuit while not participating.
• Vehicles that have run quicker than a 13 second run are not permitted at Street2Strip events for safety reasons.

DriftX Battle

High Performance Drift Machines will be competing against one another in an obstacle course to become the Drift X Champion. This is a very challenging course which can only be conquered by highly skilled drivers. For those who attended the successful Rides and Vibes event.. We will use the same venue but use the entire parking area for drifting.
Highlights of the event is as follows:
- High Performance Drift Go Karts
- Mini Drift X battle with RC Drift Cars
- Kiddies Go-Karts
- The Knob from Good Hope FM will be the MC
- Freestyle Dancers
- Cape Town’s Top Spinners
- Show Cars
- Car Clubs
- Indoor Market with lots and lots of retailers
- Sound Off
- Food Vendors
PRICE IS R30 for adults and R10 for kids under 12.

The event will be covered by SPEED N SOUND Magazine.
This will be a I.A.S.C.A sanctioned show for SPL and bass boxing.

Show and shine event.
Dyno run competition for the speed freaks on Johan Minnaar’s dyno.
Belly Dancers for entertainment
Promotion girls from Turbo Vite
Jumping castles for the kids,and much much more …… !!!!!
Lots of prizes including two times air brushed bonnets of the winners choise worth R6000-00 each in a lucky draw.

Streetcar Open Track day

Points to note for drivers:
First timers must be present for the safety brief at the start of the event, 2pm.
Your entry can be rejected if you are not present at the briefing at the start of the event.
R300 per driver
R200 for WPMC members (membership book must be produced at entries / documentation)
R50 for passengers
Drivers will be separated into three groups:
Group 1: Easy group – No passing under brakes / single file in the corners.
Group 2: Experienced group – Out braking is allowed / No overtaking in the corners.
Group 3: Pro Group – This is for the very experienced driver and race vehicles at race pace.
No excessively loud vehicles allowed at all – road or race.

All vehicles will be subject to a safety check, everything must be in good working order. No cracks in the brake disks, battery to be securely fastened.
Drivers & passengers:
Long sleeve tops, long pants, closed shoes and an SABS approved helmet are required for passengers and drivers.
