CampFest 2012 – The way camping should be!

15 February 2012 3 Comments

CampFest is what it’s all about, the modified cars, the people and being able to camp over. This years Camp Festival was held at the Hartebeesport dam resort. The drive to harties is always fun, especially when there are Audi s5’s and Aston martins driving around and getting their asses handed by a couple of Vw’s!!!

We got at the resort at about 7am and were surprised to find that there are about 150 cars already waiting in a que to get into CampFest! There were so many cars that cars driving by had to slow down and almost stop. It took about an hour before we actually got in and parked.

Luckily one of our buddies is a regular there and knows exactly where the best spots are. Only to find that they’ve already been hijacked by other campers (can you believe the cheek). As always we managed to find the next best spots near the toilets and ended up having a pretty awesome spot. In a matter of an hour our camp site was up and rocking.
It was crazy to see how many cars there were this year! This is the second year I have attended CampFest and the year before was not even close to this ones size, Maybe 100x bigger (no jokes)!

There are hundreds of cars and it’s only like 12:00am!!! Every Vw crew, club and gang is repping! The sound off is pumping & the dyno is whinning! Night fell and out came the party vibe! Every car had it sound pumping and just down the sandy path was the after party!

Anyways everyone eventually passed out and morning came knocking. We packed everything up and headed down early to the display area before the day visitors took over. All the show and shine cars lined up in the competition area. There where almost 200 cars taking part in the show and shine event, mad respect to those that took part! As the photos show, the competition was fierce! People pitched up with very scarce and pricey wheels and hectic paint jobs; you gotta give respect to those that won.

The Show n’ shine was rocking until a monster storm hit. Everybody darted for their cars and gazebos. That is when I decided to hit the road, I know it rained for about a hour and then the show went on!
See you all at 2013, its going to be huge!
