Custom Speaker Pod Build

I always wanted fibreglass speaker pods in my car and so many friends offered to do the job. Not that I don’t mind, but I always wanted to do it myself. After some extensive research I decided to build pods for the front doors and rear parcel shelf. Remember, this was my first attempt…
1. I made my own speaker rings using 8mm MDF board that was also cut to shape to form the back of the pod.
2. I attached the speaker ring to the backing piece using the 12mm dowel and hot glue. The dowels were cut to give a required angle.

Squirrel plays Chicken with a Lamboghini

A very close call for this little squirrel but the lamborghini did leave its mark on the little fella.
Notice how the squirrel sprints across the track with his tail up and after the lamborghini passes you see the tail go flying down the track!

Question Section – Audio Advice

I’am only getting 135.8 db with the 2 subs and I ran them on a 6000w XTC amp. I now installed a 6800w Monoblock 1 channel amp, how do I connect the subs to get the best out of them for sound shows, the guys with their Corsas and V dubs laugh at me whenever I enter for a sound competition. Do you have any suggestions, ideas to make it play better, louder, more bass, maybe going for 140db+ ??

Time for a Car Audio upgrade

The “best” car audio system is not necessarily the loudest one, or the most expensive one. It’s the one that best meets your needs. We have put together a small article to help you figure out if its time to upgrade your standard car audio setup.
So you need to ask yourself a few questions.
How does the sound of your current system make you feel? Do you find yourself tapping your foot or drumming your fingers on the steering wheel? Does a banging track get you smiling? Does a female’s vocal …

TwoTone Drift short film

This is a short film about a guy that is having problems with his wife and turns to his Nissan S13 Silvia for a bit of alone time. For a short film this one is definitely worth watching, the background music is way cool as well. If I had to rate this little drift clip out of 10 it would get a rating of 7smoked tyres.

Pro Tour Event Pictures – WPMC

I realise that this is a bit of a delayed blog, but rather late than never right….
The Cape Town leg of the Pro Tour event was amazing, I have to say that the Wesbank Super Series and Pro Tour are by far my favourite racing events on our racing calender.
This year i was so excited about seeing these race cars pedal around Killarney that I actually forgot to take pictures so i quickly made a duck to the pit lane for the 2nd last race of the day and took …

Show and Shine classes/categories‏

The “Streetmod Custom Show 2006”, was the first show and shine competition that I’ve entered my car. I took honours in the “Street Class”-category that day. What a happy moment it was, not only winning, but also with the birth of my first born that same week. Well, this write up is not about winning trophies or childbirth, it’s about entering your pride and joy in a “Show and Shine” competition. Like any other competition, there are rules and regulations and most important, classes or categories in which your car …
