Good Hope FM Lifestyle Expo 2011‏ – Event Coverage

20 July 2011 13 Comments
Radio Good Hope FM was celebrating 46 years of awesomeness with an all new Lifestyle Experience at the Cape Town Convention Centre on Saturday, July 16. This was a ten hour event and doors opened to the public at 12:00pm.
The day was packed with entertainment for both young and old. Live acts included, La Vuvuzela, Keeno Lee, Lloyd Jansen and HHP! There was a fighting ring where Dragon Power performed Muay Thai and even a gaming area for the kids to play Playstation and X-Box. AJAX Cape Town also had a display where the players played soccer and signed autographs. For the first time in history drifting took place at the CTICC by Cape Town’s very own Dr1ft Squad. Jacques Lemmer, in his insanely supercharged powered BMW, was definitely one of the crowds’ favourite. Also in appearance was the winner of the GHFM Fast and Furious Competition supercharged Chevy Lumina that wowed the crowds as it slides on its 20 inch shoes. My personal favourite was Leon Vierra in his e30 BMW and D1S lady, Malika, with her Nissan S13. Must say, they definitely know how to slide a ride. And what is a Cape Town drift event without our very own DJ, Mr Ready D and his Nissan Silvia S14?! They even offered free rides for all the adrenaline junkies. This was very nail biting especially when they had two cars drifting at the same time. More interesting was the Hotrods and Modified Car display on the inside of the building. As always, some of Cape Town’s finest Show cars were on display ranging from hotrods to “Low Lux” bakkies!
The day ended with a performance by the Locnville twins. The crowd went crazy when they stepped on stage! It has been a long and tiring day but I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks for chats everyone and I hope that you have enjoyed every sip of that R56 Coke Jason!!
God Bless!
JK
