How to Apply Car Window Decals‏

27 February 2011 2 Comments

Get the best results when applying decals on your car’s windows by following tips from the expert-ME (just joking). Whether you are applying a small decal or a large window graphic, choose the right tools and the best weather conditions. Also take your time as it will assure effective decal application.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
You will need the following:

* Decal(of course)
* A microfiber cloth
* Squeegee or credit card
* Knife
* Masking tape(if necessary)

1.      Apply the decal on a warm, dry day or in the garage.

2.      Clean the glass with mild soap and water. Use a microfiber cloth to dry the                                                                                     window to assure no sand or dust get on the decal.

3.      Assemble your tools for the job: squeegee or credit card and a knife.

4.      Put the decal where you want it and put masking tape across the top of the decal to hold it to the window.

5.      Make sure it is where you want it-height.

6.      Watch as you peel off the backing. If any of the decal lifts off the glass, press it back down with the knife. Press all of the backing again with the squeegee or credit card. Go slower and use more pressure.

7.      Remove the backing and the decal is set.

8.      Repeat steps 1-7 on the other windows (in my case).
Tips & Warnings

* Go slowly and apply a bit of the decal at a time. This is to reduce the risk of air bubbles.
* Also, don’t use any chemical product, such as glass cleaner on the window- it could damage the decal.
* And lastly, don’t attempt decal application in windy conditions.

Lastly, step back and admire your work of art…Jealous? Thought so, I just wanted to show off my AutoModified decals!

Until next time…God Bless!!
