Kaihatsu Silvia Update

7 November 2011 No Comment

The end of October was a busy period for the Kaihatsu Liqui-Moly Silvia.

A photo shoot was on the books for RACEWEB online magazine for about a month or two now, so on a Friday last month after finishing off the roll cage and interior we booked it in for a shoot on Table Mountain road.

We also attending the MASSIVE CTSR park off in Ottery China Town on 27 October 2011. The car drew great attention parked up with 1 or 2 of the other D1S cars. The night also saw the registration for one of Cape Town’s biggest shows, Street Modz at the Goodhope centre 26-27 November. The Silvia will either be on show at the Race Car section or outside doing what it does best, going sideways (TBC)!

After a bit of sideways action testing after the RACEWEB shoot, we had realised that the diff was just getting very tired. So we headed back to the workshop, took it out and shimmed it up ready for some drifting at Killarney Car Wars 29 October 2011.

The drifting was run just before they setup the track for the all-tar rally. The Drift Squad and I had a few hours of the oval section to ourselves.

The day unfortunately started off with me having to run down to Southern Suburbs to fetch the 8 tyres due to a miscommunication, but we made it back in time for 1 and a half hours drifting, during which I killed all 8 tyres!

The shimmed differential made a huge difference with even tyre wear and being able to put down all the power properly around the oval.

I ended off the session with entertaining the crowd by covering them in tyre smoke and blowing a tyre or two.

See you at the Street Modz show!
