Kenilworth Karting – Cape Town

12 June 2010 3 Comments

I’m sure pretty much everyone in Cape Town has been to the Kenilworth Karting atleast once in their life. The last time I visited, I was with a group of 16+ people and we had organised a couple of group races. We had a complete jol!
It seems as tho the Kenilworth Go-karting venue has gone under new ownership recently. They have introduced a bunch of new 160cc racing karts with hydraulic brakes and slick tyres.

For the little guys, they have 140cc GP Junior karts with full safety briefings before every race and helmets and disposable hair-nets are provided for every driver.
A few racing packages have been introduced to the Kenilworth Karting venue:

Arrive and Drive:
The public are welcome to race karts 7 days a week, 364 days a year.
Look out for the price-off specials in the press.

Each driver gets:
- A safety briefing
- A disposable hair-net and helmet
- Special driving instructions if he or she is a “first timer ”

Special Bookings:

The most simple and inexpensive form of structured race meeting. The special booking is ideal for a small group of 12 ( minimum ) to 18 drivers. Each participant gets two full 10 lap races and the fastest 6 drivers (as determined by computerised lap-times) go out and compete in a final of 15 laps.
A minimum of 12 drivers is needed for a special booking.
2 Heats each     - 10 lap races
1 Final     - 15 lap race ( fastest 6 drivers )

Grand Prix:
One of the most popular form of group indoor karting is the grand prix event. A grand prix entails two heats, two semi – finals and a final – so each driver drives twice, the top 12 from the heats drive in the semis and the fastest 6 go through to the grand prix final.

A minimum of 18 drivers is needed for a grand prix meeting.
2 Heats each     - 10 lap races
2 Semi-finals     - 15 lap races ( fastest 12 drivers )
1 Final     - 20 lap race ( fastest 6 drivers )

cost: R160.00 p/p

By the sounds of things, Kenilworth Karting  is back and better than ever! We will definitely be getting a group together and hitting that track hard!
We suggest you round up a group of your best drivers and head over to the Kenilworth track and book a race!
