Sat 29th / Sun 30th October 2011

This coming weekend sees the return of Car Wars to Killarney, this complimented by the Fix-a-smash All Tar Rally taking place on the oval on Saturday with both events running till late into the evening.  The balance of the unique special stage rally event will take place from early on Sunday morning.

Car Wars (Episode 6) has always been well supported and this weekend should be no different.  On track action starts at 9am with the top guns (MSA racing competitors) taking to the strip until late afternoon, this will be followed by the always entertaining Street2Strip streetracers till 10pm.  The first stages of the All Tar Rally will start on the oval at 1pm on Saturday and run through until late in the evening, these will include super special rally stages where two cars go against one another at the same time. Rally spectators are advised to access the Container Rd gate entrance for your two day tickets and best viewing spots.

The new pit facility will be a buzz with excitement including the biggest ever Soundoff competition hosted at the track, this proudly being hosted by the Audio Kings group.  Other attractions here will include an Audio Kings VIP area as well as static displays, food vendors, public seating and obviously the Soundoff competition.  A first at Killarney will be a large indoor screen located inside the new pit facility allowing those inside to see the outside action and various other clips, images and soundoff readings.  Fantasticracing will be opening their part of the facility after 1pm for simulator rides and a display of a Formula 1 racing car.

Audio Kings are car sound and security experts with shops in Brackenfell, Claremont, Montague Gardens and Somerset West with over 125 years combined technical experience.  The WPMC are proud to have joined forces with Audio Kings for this event and believe this is the start of many great soundoff competitions to come.  Audio Kings have got Tim from Emma coming down to join this area for the day, there will also be spot prizes, inter club soundoff drags and head to head challenges as well as battle of the db’s.  Entry fee into the soundoff is a minimal R10 for 3 runs, now that’s value for money and pre-registration can be done at www.audiokings.co.za or at the venue before 11am.  There are also only a few more spaces for clubs wanting to support and this includes access into the VIP area, all for free provided you contact Audio Kings on iggy@audiokings.co.za . Another great service being offered is a Air-con regas and check at R300 per vehicle, how convenient to be able to get this done while you watching some racing or a soundoff.

On the track we hope to see the top guns fighting for honours in the MSA competition.  Tolla Daniels ExtraHot 2 litre, turbo and nos Ford Escort is now fitted with a parachute as he has recently achieved the magical sub 10 second run.  Badbrad ProFit Golf has a newly reworked gearbox partially sponsored by Mike’s Place, word from Badbrad is that his top competition should be coming down from Mosselbay and should make for some good racing against Brad.  Oom Willie will be back in action is his CanAm, recently having had hassles with his NOS system he will now go back to a two stage system rather and has also made some suspension modifications.  Faeek Omar will return to the track in his MSYC sponsored Toyota boasting a bigger Turbo, bigger injectors and running on full methanol.  Faeek says that the new owner of Jalopino Slammer (Wesley’s green Toyota) should be making an appearance at the track on Saturday.  Isgak Peterson recently sold his Sentra and is currently busy with a Mk1 Golf 2 litre 16 valve Turbo and hopes to have it ready for Saturdays event.  Other top runners will include Adrian de Vries in his super quick, daily driven Honda Ballade Vtec called Orlando. Craig Price will be seen on the track again, this time in his newly acquired Toyota MR2 packing some serious power and interesting mods, be sure to have a look at this one while strolling around the pits.  Another regular, Jody van Schoor will be there in his 2 litre, 16 valve JVS tuning Golf, this time hoping to brake into the 12 second bracket.  Werner Kruger was recently kicked off the Street2Strip for breaking the 13 second rule and will make his return on Saturday, this Mk6 Golf is now returning with almost 300kw and 520 nm, most likely the fastest Mk6 in the country. On two wheels we expect to see Garion Slamet aiming for the gold on his Suzuki GSXR 750, Garion managing an impressive 9,7 second run at his most recent meeting.  Will this be enough against the other bike racers.  All MSA entries will be accepted on the morning of the event from 8am till 10am, MSA licence applications will also be available.

This will all be followed by the Street2Strip streetracers taking to the track from 5.30pm till 10pm. Entries for the Street2Strip drivers will be from 5pm till 7pm at a cost of a R40 ticket and R20 admin fee.

Gates open at 8am on Saturday with action on the track from 9am. Admission is R40 per person, under 16 R10 and U12 free.
