Monstrous Development

12 October 2010 No Comment

So this past weekend, Pro Drift South Africa kicked off with its first round of the new Development Series.  Another Monstermob Raceway initiative.  There are alot of guys out there that want to compete, unfortunately they either live too far away from the main drift circuits or they dont know how to go about it.
Monster Mob sent out an invitation to the 360 Boys from Kwa-Zulu Natal and met an interestingly talented Pretoria local that goes by the name of ‘Spanner’, and chucked in some of our local Kimberley development drivers.  Having spent the last 2 years at the Rock Raceway.

I had some drifters in mind that I felt would compliment this development series, Leeroy Frans and Richard Holtzhauzen agreed to compete and I think their presence certainly added to the experience.
I would just like to add that it is extremely difficult to draw a line, so we didn’t… This series was supposed to be for street legal cars only, but how would you tell a guy that he can’t compete because he has a bigger budget than Joe Soap next to him.

With that in mind, the development Series remains with a driver’s skill, after all having more horse power than your rival doesn’t mean that you automatically have the skills to beat him?  As many a drifter would have heard Otto Graven say from time to time, it’s all about physics, using the momentum of your car to carry you through.  I have included a video clip where Otto explains this in great detail, and I am sure it will answer some of your questions.

Standings
Jouberg resident Richard Holtzhauzen secured 1st Place after a consistent performance, with fellow club mate Leeroy Frans snatching up his 2nd place trophy.  3rd place went to a kimberlite, Rodney Parker who did us proud, normally comfortable practicing on the skidpan, he proved to himself that with great risk comes great reward.  A job well done to all the guys!!!
Monstermob & Pro Drift would like to thank the following people: Otto Graven, Ernest Page, Mark Weyers, Vic Pardal, Mzanzi Rides, Flamingo Casino, DJ Bizzy, the drivers & all the monstermobians!
