MRN Stunners & Low&Slow Crew Car Show

7 May 2012 2 Comments
A while ago I was approached by Marwaan Brittow to judge an event. MRN Stunnerz, in association with Low & Slow Crew, hosted their very first show & shine event. Linked to it was a bikini car wash, a sound off as well as a park off. It all went down over the weekend at Pinelands Sports field. All of this was in aid to raise funds for the Monte Dragons Dragon Boat Club.

Monte Dragon Boat Club is a community based dragon boat crew who will represent Western Cape Dragon Boat Association and South Africa at the 2012 Club Crew World Championship (CCWC) in Hong Kong. They have been competing for the last 4 years and after many successes they have the honor of representing our country on the International stage and need some funds in order to enter the championship.

The day kicked off at 11 and I was greeted with a cold and overcastted Cape Town autumn weather but the bikini girls brought some heat. Slowly the cars came in and by 12 the field was packed with custom mobiles. The crowd was entertained by MC Mark Bull while Mr. Autopunks, Grant, was doing some dB readings along with the crew of Deaf Row Audio. Accompanied by Jason and Rafiq aka Apollo, we kicked with judging just after 1. Must say, the rides got better and the competition became tougher. Some familiar cars pulled up but as mentioned the last time, more and more new modfathers and sisters are joining sport. Even Ashwin with his boosted Jetta came out to show support. We were really sweating as most of the points allocated were a close call, especially in the “Super Custom” class and “Street Class”. One car that stood out for me was an orange Ford Escort belonging to Sergio. It is powered by a 2l EGi Turbo motor and bling in the bay is plashed everywhere. No part on this car was overlooked when the owner built this car. I tried to fault it and even and even check for any oil leaks under the car. This car took honors in its class as well as “Best of Show”. Another car that caught my attention was a low rider with some custom paintwork, imported wire wheels and air suspension. I must say that the show was well attended and well organized. Next time Lameez, don’t forget the boerewors roll, lol.
Congrats to all winners and until next time, God Bless…
JK
