Ms Hoons Rebuild progress – Mk2 GTI Turbo

3 February 2012 3 Comments

So I’m not sure if most of you know, but our lady in red(ok yes the car is white, but red sounds good), Marlize had a bit of a accident a while back. Long story short some old lady was obvious jealous of how quick Marlize’s car was and decided to get T-boned by the nippy lil Mk2 GTI.

The official statement:

On Monday, the 14th of November I was innocently driving to work when a 70 year old lady decided to make a turn at the robot intersection right in front of me. I immediately slammed on the brakes and remember thinking that the other driver must pleeeaaase just brake. Locked wheels were clearly not enough to avoid, what I at the time, saw as my world being shattered.

Thinking back, I remember happily thinking that morning about my rims that I was planning to have refurbed and colour changed and that it will be just in time for the Fast, Furious & Glorious event at Killarney.

Was really sad! And things did not look very promising at all. ie: Panel shops being closed during December. Her insurance refuses to pay, etc.

So that’s the story. After twisting some arms, I managed to get some pics of the build progress.

Time for the colour, all panels fixed and replaced, cos that’s how M rolls….

Check this out, Marlize got stuck in and cleaned up the Gearbox and repainted it as well. Now i wish there were more females that could follow in her footsteps.
