NavCol Super Car Show – Event Coverage

26 July 2011 One Comment

The excitement and hype generated for the SA Naval College Super Car and Bike Show was worth the wait. Once again, Team Venom, in conjunction with Team Autopunks, unleashed some dangerous venom!!!! The wind was hectic in Gordons Bay, but that did not deter the petrol heads to come out and support this event. It was good to see some new “show and shine” contenders and it just shows how the sport is growing. DJ Ready D along with his wife, Anwar Daniels, Marlon, Zabby, Noer Asmodien and the D1S and GHFM clan also came out to support and drew quite a crowd with their awesome slide mobiles. The event was well attended by all the major Cape Town Car Clubs- something you don’t easily see at bigger car show events. Sammy Bello Nava Dawson treated the tensed and stressed peeps with some massages while Mark treated the tough guys and dolls with permanent body art. And for those that didn’t have time to wash their cars, Eco Dry Wash brought a mobile car wash to the event. I was just in time for the Precision Drill that took place at 12.

Addition to the custom car and bike show was a Rev-Off Orchestra Car Club challenge. This is where all vehicles belonging to a car, bike and sound club co-ordinates a revving melody to capture the audience. All vehicles were pitted against each other, bonnet to bonnet. A brand new initiative brought to you by none other than Lieutenant Sayed. Car Clubs lined up against an opposing club and each club had 60seconds to showcase their rev-choreography. Drivers may be inside or out of their vehicles but the main aim is to not just simply cut – out but to harmoniously execute a crowd pulling melody and also to entertain the crowd.

Both the “Show” and “Sound Off” competitions went well despite the weather condition and according to Grant from Team Autopunks there were some decent dB numbers. Abdul would like to say a big Shukran to his family for climbing in and willingly assisted making this day a success –his wife Yumna, Yaya, Nadu, Qaadir and Taybah also not forgetting his students!
From my side, well done to all the winners and to those that came out to support the event. I can’t wait for the next Team Venom/Autopunks event! Until then…

God Bless!
