Rygate FMC Fiesta Show and Shine

4 April 2012 4 Comments
The Rygate Soccer Club in conjunction Extreme Concept SA hosted “The Rygate FMC Fiesta Carnival” over the past weekend. Like any other carnival there was entertainment for both young and old-ranging from carnival rides to live bands and a Beauty Pageants, even Pieter and Elmerie of 7De Laan made a turn. The carnival took place over 4 days but Saturday, 31st March, was the day set aside for some more entertainment in form of a car show.

Paul Pakoe and yours truly were responsible for the Show and Shine while Paul, aka Mr. Boyz Toyz, was handling the Sound Off. By 10 am over 50 of Cape Town’s finest metal were parked on the soccer field allocated for the show and shine. Soundmatch also came to the party and had some nice rides on display. I remember Shahiem Bell saying that he could smell the D28 from the entrance. Four of Cape Town’s top car clubs namely BM Squad, OPCrew, Extreme Vdubs and Cars R Us also came out to show off their rides.  The day kicked off a bit slow but was later filled by the masses looking at the modifying metals with drooling buckets. More youngsters show interest in the show scene nowadays and it was evident at this event. They were eager to learn and take tips from the older show guys. Some of the usual suspects like Caddylicious, Jared aka Gummy, Apollo and Neville also paid a visit. One highlight for me was Zabby’s orange Prelude. Everyone was having a good time, sharing ideas, snacks, drinks and okka pipes.  The judges had their hands full as all cars on show looked extremely clean and in top notch. I remember someone asked if it was a roadworthy test. Well, that is what show and shine is all about. Prize giving took place at 6 and one thing we noticed was that most of the winners reside from Somerset West, Strand. A special thanks to Mag Addiction for sponsoring the trophies and to all competitors, some of which travelled long distances. Well, I managed to take some pics, enjoy…

Until next time, God Bless
