As it stands to date, Street2Strip has proven to be one of Killarney Raceway’s most popular events, attracting up to 10 000 spectators and 200 participants on a good day. It was brought about as a means to an end. In other words, it was created to give street racers a venue for them to race their cars in a safe and controlled environment.

The more the event attracts street racers, the less they will be inclined to race on the roads, so the event also serves the dual purpose of providing a safe venue as well as promoting road safety.

‘S2S Productions’ has seen the potential of Street2Strip as an event for television coverage and has therefore created an exciting new format for a television show. By combining the exciting racing that happens at each event with a ‘Fast and Furious’ approach to its production values, they aim to create a show that will take Street2Strip to another level completely, making it more palatable for a television audience. They would like to produce a twelve part series of shows, each one hour long, for airing on one of South Africa’s more popular terrestrial channels.

    How cool is that!
