World Challenge R35 Build – Speedhunters

Iv got something that will make any grown man weak in the knees, this is a Nissan GTR that is about to become a sushi chef on steroids…
This is what the Nissan GTR R35 looked like when it pulled up at AMS in Chicago.

No time was wasted. The interior was thoroughly stripped in order to begin the cage and chassis fabrication process. The car has now been stripped in its chops and about to be prepped for one of the AMS’s renowned safety cages.

Otto Gravens Drifted back onto AutoModified

While keeping close tabs on one of South Africa’s pioneering drifters, we thought it would be great to catch up with Otto Graven again and see what Otto and his team at Monster Mob have been up to.

AM: In our last interview with you the question came about why you had changed from your R33 Skyline to a Nissan 350Z. We notice you have not just mastered the V6, but you decided to get rid of the Nissans V6 motor and replace it with a beefy V8 Corvette C5R motor. …

Honda CRX Build thread

Of late I have taken a liking to Honda’s, more specifically the CRX and Civic VTec. I’ve been following a CRX on the HondaTech forum recently, he’s busy developing a RWD Honda CRX. Grant has taken his 2nd Gen CRX and opted to play with the Honda S2000 VTec motor, but it doesn’t stop there. Grant is planning on hanging a very juicy Turbo off the side of the F20C engine.
Check the Full Build thread here.

Meth/water injection explained

I was at Street 2 Strip on Friday evening and while walking around the pit area I noticed a 200sx with a fat set of D2 brakes resting nicely under the arches, while inspection the Nissan a little bit closer I noticed a Methanol/Water injection system in the boot. So I decided to do an introduction blog on Meth/Water injection.
Methanol/Water Injection remains a popular upgrade within the high performance cars these days. It’s rather hard these days to believe that injecting water into an engine in can increase power figures, …

JDM tuned delight – Japanese candi

A quick introduction for those of you that doesn’t know the meaning of JDM.. what exactly does it mean; JDM Japanese Domestic Market, in a nutshell, if someone considers a car to be JDM they mean the car has a mostly in a stock appearance with only typically stock looking aftermarket exterior parts (ie no massive wings or aggressive bodykits) and the focus on these cars is what is under the hood.
Now that we have that aside… here is some JDM candi for those in that circle …

Calvin from Dragon Customs

So we have been looking to add a new face to the AutoModified’s writing team, a few names were thrown around and we decided to approach Calvin from Dragon Customs in Cape Town. One thing that we loved about Calvin, was that he like us has a dream and is perusing it,  and it seems as if he has come out on top.
We asked Calvin to but together a small introduction about himself and his business, well it seems to be a bit more than a “small intro”.
This is Calvin’s …
