The FFG Allstarz Coverage‏

29 December 2010 7 Comments

The Fast, Furious & Glorious Allstarz came back with a BANG! this summer at the Killarney Race Track in Cape Town. This is South Africa’s biggest car charity event and took place on Sunday, the 26th and Monday, the 27th of December 2010. It was their 9th event and was hosted by Extreme Concepts SA. All funds were in aid of Blouvlei L.S.E.N. (005 – 927) school, situated in Retreat. The race track was packed with people and cars and I enjoyed every bit of it! One good thing about this event is the fact that there was something for the whole family.

Drag racers came from all over the country to support the event with the likes of Ashie from Johannesburg with his Skyline GTR, Nazeer Loonat with his Turbo’d Nos GP BMW (380kw), Raymond Pillay with his N/A BMW 325, Shaid Essop from Durban with his 470kw e30 BMW and Aslam Seedat from P.E. with his N/A 2 door Golf (Shark Attack). Speed and Sound also came to wowed the crowd with “Batty” pulling up in the fastest CSL e46 M3 in the country, and not forgetting our very own Willie Nel in his V8 powered Can Am(crowds’ favourite), Asraf Allie in his black 8-sec WP Escort and Wesley Lewin in the Reynolds branded Corolla. I even saw a brand new blue Ford Focus RS on the strip! Sharief Reynolds came out to play with his brand new Limited edition Harley Davidson drag bike-one of only three in the country!

Activities on day 1, Sunday 26 December, included the Street to Strip racing challenge, a free Sound Off by Boyz Toyz and motor sport workshops with various experienced drivers. In the pits there were the well known Car Club Displays, Best Stand Competition and later followed by a Track Parade. Team Toy Freaks from Paarl took the winning trophy home-AGAIN! The crowds were entertained by Hip Hop dancers and a fashion show by Pro Stars. Mag Addiction, Arrow Tires, Kenchel (Spray painting & Panel beating), PDR Paint less dent removals Cape Trike Tours were some of the exhibitions at the show while D – EVO (Drift Evolution) R.C cars had a Drift car challenge. There were also lots of prize give-aways on the day.

Activities on day 2, Monday 27th December, were the MSA Sanctioned event, The Fast Furious & Glorious Allstarz – MSA Drags challenge. The Show & Shine Custom Show took place in the pits followed by a Track Parade. This was hosted by Paul and his team, Xtreme Vdubs. Some of Cape Town’s best show cars were on display with the likes of Donovan with his supercharged Conquest, Abdul with his Lambo’d door Corsa Utility, Dean aka Mr Toy Freaks, Neville with Turbo’d Escort and Ross (Chad) with his green 20v Tazz-to name a few. The judges had their hands full and some cars had to be judged again. An official Sound Off competition was hosted by Uncle Paul from Boyz Toyz while the drift addicts were entertained by drifting and spinning demos. Once again there were a number of exhibition stands selling and advertising their accessories, not forgetting the food stalls! D – EVO (Drift Evolution) R.C cars Drift challenge continued with their drift competition on this day. World class hip hop dancers O21 B-Boys featuring Ramone (Prophets Of the City) entertained the crowds.

All I can say is, AWESOME! If you were not there, you missed a hell of a lot out. Thanks to Deon and his team, Extreme Concepts SA, for hosting an awesome and successful event! I can’t wait for the next “The Fast, Furious & Glorious Allstarz”- event. On that HIGH note, have a prosperous 2011! Until next year, please keep it safe…God Bless!
