WOMZA at “The Rock Raceway”

22 November 2010 2 Comments

The oval circuit at The Rock is 400m long at the raceline. This may seem a lot when you are in a group of Gringos, wearing Speedo’s, trying to see who is the fastest around this thing, but when you are in a larger group of oval racers on steroids all trying to cunningly disguise themselves as production street cars, well then, this space becomes a bit cramped.

This is where it begins! After the official introductions, as previously mentioned (rocking the boat at the rock), the masters of “destruction introduction allowed the first group onto the “strip of grip” which proved not to be too grippy. Remember, this is an oval track, surrounded by solid walls on the outside and cones on the inside. The groups of racers are split into their classes and have to spoon it on this narrow thingy and yes, there is a little bit of bullying going on and I think one of them may have drifted a bit!

What I found really impressive was thestandards and abilities of the mechanics on site. The pitts were aflood with lights late into the night as the mechanics did field repairs to these machines, some doing work on the cars in an hour what would take an entire day at a normal garage!

An overall impressive event, midgets (very loud, you try take pics of these and block your ears), a bakkie load of paramedics and, of course, Jagermeister Girls!

“Yours Truly”

Now you see what the hye is about!
