World Aids Day Fundraiser Event‏

6 December 2010 5 Comments

We celebrate National Aids Day on the 1st of December of every year but the CTSR Crew, in conjunction with Team Autopunks, decided to celebrate this day a couple of days earlier. They hosted a “Show and Shine” and “Sound Off” event on Saturday, 27 November, at the Karl Bremmer Hospital in Belleville, Cape Town. This was in aid to raise funds for the ongoing struggle in the prevention and cure, as well as the awareness programmes for the fight against HIV/AIDS. All the funds will be donated to the Hospital. This was CTSR’s first time hosting an event like this and a BIG thanks to Christine, Jarryd and their whole crew. I must admit it, a job well done!

The day kicked off nicely and was supported well despite the drizzle we had the morning. Everything was well organised-a Sound Off area, Show and Shine area, two RC drifting areas and even a food court! Coke sponsored all the drinks! There was even a free HIV Testing Station. A jumping castle and pony rides kept the kids busy while the bigger boys (men) were busy battling it out with the RC Drift rides. Some car product companies like Meguiar’s, Import Parts, Dragon Customs and WrapMaster Vinyl Technology came out to advertise their products. They had some awesome cars on  display. Far Car wash and Mini Valet offered their services by bringing a car wash and valet to the show. Some car clubs also supported the event with the likes of Xtreme Veedubs and Volk Edition, just to name a few. MC Grant kept the crowd up to date   during the course of the day.

On the sound side, some familiar faces made their way. Team Autopunks chose this event as the finals to finish off round two of the “Club 1twelve” Sound Off competitions. Team DB and Team Bassmasters were head on head bass boxing it out. Grant and his team had their hands full with all the entrants side, I saw some nice looking rides. Rodney in his flipped colour, lambo’d door, mind-blowing, custom Bantam bakkie drew quit a crowd. This bakkie went into hibernation for more than a year. Some guys thought it was a Lumina! Dominique brought his well-known grey MK1 to the show-another crowd magnet! A car that stood out for me was a red Cli Jetta built and owned by Eugene. This car is fitted with a decent Vibe setup, new spec Golf Mk1 Golf dash and classy interior. On the outside, the car sported the Golf Mk2 Gti bumpers, spoilers, and some nice Lenso BSX wheels. Remember, you saw and read about his car here on AM first! I think this car needs a full feature in one of South Africa’s “performance magazines” (hint). The day ended off with the well-known Spring Stance park -off for VW/Audi brand cars only. Last year it took place on Table Mountain. Some very nice VW Golfs and Audi’s made their way to the Park off. InteRnational Rim repairs sponsored this year’s trophy for the winner of the Spring Stance, a car that can stand out from the rest. Riyaad and Andre who judged these cars, surely had a tough job to choose a winner, as all of these cars were totally MIND BLOWING!

A special thanks goes out to ALL the sponsors for making this event a success; Coke, Racing Edge Soundmatch, D1S, Builders Warehouse, International Rim repairs as well as D-Evo RC Drift cars and not forgetting Tokai RC Club! Thank you for everyone who supported this event to make it a success! You can follow CTSR Crew on facebook- CTSR Facebook Group for any upcoming events.

Until next time. God Bless!!!

JK
